The first major league pro sports team to call Las Vegas home, the Quicksilvers of the arrived in 1977 from San Diego where they spent a season as the Jaws. The year before that, they were the Baltimore Comets for two seasons, 1974 and 1975. In 1978 they moved back to San Diego and were renamed the Sockers, who went on to become one of the most storied teams in both outdoor and indoor soccer in the 1980s and 1990s. The team dissolved in 1996.
