You can't get much more Detroit than naming your indoor soccer team after a motor vehicle. The team made its debut in 1994 as the Detroit Neon in the Continental Indoor Soccer League. The name was chosen because the team was sponsored by Dodge, who wanted to promote their Neon compact-car.
